Ministries

St. John of God is said to have exhorted those around him to "Do good for the love of God."  We, as members of the St. John of God Church, attempt to put into action those words by offering our talents and time to the service of our parish and community.  If you do not yet participate in one of the ministries, organizations or groups listed in this booklet please read it carefully and consider your many opportunities.

God must enjoy diversity for we have been created with such varied talents and dispositions.  Each one of us brings a unique insight or ability to a task.  How fortunate we are to have been gifted by our loving Father.  But gifts have no value if they are hidden away, they must be shared.

There is so much to be accomplished.  How can you know where your gifts are needed?  Pray, then think about what you do well and what you enjoy doing.  Do you have a kind nature?  Are you a good listener?  Do you like helping children?  Are you musically talented?  Do you relate well to the sick or elderly?  There are many things to consider but the most important question to ask yourself might be: How can I be the person God wants me to be? 

When you share your time and talents with others through participation in the organizations of our parish you provide a service to others.  That is the essence of a vital, growing community.  Your participation will enrich our Church community as we strive to reflect and celebrate God's love.
